Intro to Metalsmithing & Jewelry Making

Design and make your own jewelry in 1 day! This class introduces basic metalsmithing techniques, such as stone setting, ring sizing, soldering, texturizing metal, sawing and flex shaft attachments. In 6 hours (10a-4p), you will work with sterling silver while strengthening your design and fabrication skills. By the end of class, you will have created 1 ring and 1 pendant OR 1 ring and 1 wrist cuff. This is great for a beginner or for anyone who might need a refresher of the basics. ($250 Class per person + Materials $50-250 plus tax)
Skills Covered: Sawing, Texturing, Stamping, Soldering, Bezel Setting, Polishing
Prerequisite: No Experience Needed, must be over the age of 14
Tools: Provided; If you have your own tools that you prefer, you are welcome to bring them
Materials: Approximate cost of materials (metal & stones) is $50-250 plus tax and will be purchased during class. If you'd like to bring your own materials, you're more than welcome to. The Studio has a wide variety to select from otherwise. Bringing a stone AKA cabochon is acceptable, leaving sterling silver as the only Materials purchased during the workshop.
Lunch: There will be a 30 minute lunch break permitted during a 2 hour timeframe given to students for self paced work time to complete projects
