Intro to Metalsmithing & Jewelry Making

Design and make your own jewelry in 1 day! This class introduces basic metalsmithing techniques, such as stone setting, ring sizing, soldering, texturizing metal, sawing and flex shaft attachments. In 6 hours (10a-4p), you will work with sterling silver while strengthening your design and fabrication skills. By the end of class, you will have created 1 ring and 1 pendant OR 1 ring and 1 wrist cuff. This is great for a beginner or for anyone who might need a refresher of the basics. ($250 Class per person + Materials $50-250 plus tax)
Skills Covered: Sawing, Texturing, Stamping, Soldering, Bezel Setting, Polishing
Prerequisite: No Experience Needed, must be over the age of 14
Tools: Provided; If you have your own tools that you prefer, you are welcome to bring them
Materials: Approximate cost of materials (metal & stones) is $50-250 plus tax and will be purchased during class. If you'd like to bring your own materials, you're more than welcome to. The Studio has a wide variety to select from otherwise. Bringing a stone AKA cabochon is acceptable, leaving sterling silver as the only Materials purchased during the workshop.
Lunch: There will be a 30 minute lunch break permitted during a 2 hour timeframe given to students for self paced work time to complete projects

Pointed Pens & Place Cards

Join us for a cozy, fall-themed introduction to modern calligraphy! In this 2-hour workshop, you'll learn the beautiful art of pointed (dip) pen calligraphy, just in time to create something special for the holidays.

The workshop includes a complete supply kit with everything you need to get started: a straight pen holder, an oblique pen holder, two nibs, a traceable workbook, and vellum.

We'll start with the fundamentals, including an overview of calligraphy, the basic strokes, and how to form letters and words. Then, with your new skills, you'll have the chance to create unique place cards for your Thanksgiving table.

This workshop is perfect for beginners and promises to be a creative and relaxing experience. We can't wait to see you there!

Merry Mail at Chirps & Cheers

In this fun and creative studio class, you'll design and paint your own ceramic ornaments! There will be a few shapes available to paint, including mail trucks and envelopes. Whether you're a beginner or pro, our step-by-step guidance will help you create unique, festive decorations that are perfect for hanging on your holiday tree. No previous painting experience required—just bring your creativity!

Price includes one ornament of your choice.

Saturday || November 29th || Come & Go (11am-4pm) || $25

Walk-ins are welcome, but we highly suggest reserving your preferred ornament shape ahead as some designs will sell out!

Approximate Ornament Sizes:

  • Mail Truck (1in x 1.5in)

  • Envelopes (1.5in x 2in)

Your creations will be glazed, fired, and ready for pick up by December 13th or sooner. Attendees will be notified by email when their ornaments are ready for pick up.

Design and make your own jewelry in 1 day utilizing concho and shot plate sets! Learn how to accurately measure metal for the best results with this tool/technique as well as how to properly anneal and press the metal. This class introduces basic metalsmithing techniques, such as sawing, soldering and stone setting. In 6 hours (10a-4p), you will work with sterling silver while strengthening your design and fabrication skills.

By the end of class, you will have completed 1-2 projects (student's choice of rings, pendants &/or wrist cuffs). This is great for a beginner with no metalsmithing skills, anyone who might need a refresher of the basics or someone interested in concho/shot plate designs. ($275 Class + Materials $50-150 plus tax)

Prerequisite: No Experience Needed, must be over the age of 18

Stacker Ring Workshop

Hand forge 2-5 sterling silver ring bands AKA Stacker Rings in 3.5 hours. This 1 day workshop is a great start to familiarize yourself with the metalsmithing tools and techniques needed to create sterling silver jewelry. It’s also a ton of fun and can simply be a great experience! ($125 Workshop + Materials $25-80 plus tax)

Techniques: ring sizing, forming, soldering, filing, sanding, and patina

Prerequisite: No Experience Needed, Ages 8-17 must be accompanied by adult

Tools: Provided

Materials: Pick from a large collection of sterling silver wire to create 2-5 rings. Cost of materials ranges from $25-80 plus tax and will be purchased during workshop.

Workshop is Wednesday, December 17th 5:30p-9p

This class includes a Kaweco Sport Fountain Pen of your choice, a 50mL bottle of Kaweco ink, and a small injector kit and cartridge.

On Saturday September 27th, you'll find the store filled with all the reminiscent surprises you found last year on You've Got Mail day, plus more! Bring your kiddos for Storytime at 10am and let the professional face painter give them swirls and sparkles or maybe stripes and whiskers to show off all day. (Artist will be painting faces 10am - noon). Plan to support Curbside Flowers with your daisy purchases again, and sit down to our typewriter for some old fashioned writing time.
